We are here to help!
What Is Family Reunification Therapy?
Family Reunification Therapy is a therapeutic process designed to help estranged or disconnected family members rebuild healthy, secure relationships. This type of therapy is often court-ordered or voluntarily sought following high-conflict separations, divorces, or periods of no contact.
It is not about assigning blame—it’s about restoring communication, trust, and emotional safety.
The Process:
Families entering reunification therapy can expect a carefully guided process:
1. Individual Sessions
Each family member typically begins with one-on-one sessions. This gives everyone a safe space to share their perspective, process difficult emotions, and prepare for the reconnection work ahead.
2. Parent-Child Sessions
Once individual readiness is established, the therapist facilitates sessions between the estranged family members. These meetings are emotionally sensitive and paced according to the needs of those involved.
3. Co-Parenting Support (if applicable)
In cases involving divorced or separated parents, co-parenting guidance may be provided to ensure a supportive environment for the child.
4. Communication and Boundary Building
Therapy focuses on rebuilding respectful, honest communication. New boundaries are discussed and agreed upon, helping family members feel emotionally safe and respected.
5. Ongoing Support
Reunification is not a one-time event—it’s a journey. Continued support helps families maintain progress and adapt to new dynamics with care and flexibility.
All of this will be done in an interactive and engaging format where we are not just sitting in a room talking about the struggles. Th intensive will be specially curated to meet the needs of your family and the ages of your children. An intake will be done virtually or in-person before the intensive to allow for time for the therapist or team of therapists and specially trained team to develop a specific program for your family.
